Claude CAMBOUR 1940+2012

Claude CAMBOUR, born in Dreux, west of Paris in 1940, took his first steps in the world of art, through great artists. The first was Maurice de VLAMINCK. Claude CAMBOUR's grandfather was his own gardener for many years. Other artists still, throughout his childhood, would trace his destiny for him.

After his military service, in Germany and North Africa, Claude CAMBOUR settled in Paris, where his growing passion for painting would pursue him. Looking for his favorite motifs in the Normandy region, he would finally find it wiser to settle there permanently. And this is why, in 1985, he created his studios in Giverny, thus getting closer to his idol, Claude MONET, and the Normandy countryside where the paths of his childhood are lost.

Claude CAMBOUR has long shared with us through his paintings the beauty and light of this region, painting its countryside, gardens and rivers. He paints his work there while developing his own style, characterized by light and bright colors and is the fierce champion of today's defenders of impressionism. Radio, television and newspapers are there alongside his paintings to tell you this.

Through their artistic skills, major American galleries, such as the Wally Findlay Gallery, have opened the doors of the future to a somewhat damaged world where poetry, alas, is lacking.

In all weathers, Claude CAMBOUR travels the countryside. He likes to be close to nature in search of flowery landscapes, reflections in the water. His paintings express color, light and romanticism. Through his classic and traditional style, he has carved out an enviable place for himself as a representative of the impressionist movement that he venerates. His determination to follow the quality of the Impressionist movement earned him worldwide recognition and reputation.

Thousands of paintings from his studios in Giverny decorate the interiors of passionate collectors Biography taken from the Giverny Association Claude CAMBOUR died accidentally on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Giverny.

He was in his 72nd year.

“The entire sky is the dome of my church and each painting I make is a prayer that I hang on the walls of life, for you.” Claude CAMBOUR
