Raymond BESSE 1899+1969

796 / 5 000 Raymond Besse, born December 26, 1899 in Niort in Deux-Sèvres, died March 5, 1969 in Candé-sur-Beuvron in Loir-et-Cher), is a French painter.

Raymond Besse arrived in Paris in 1916. He participated for the first time in the Salon des Indépendants in 1923. He then participated in many other salons, including the Salon d'Automne. He many times represented the northern suburbs of Paris, Saint-Ouen, Montmartre and Clichy because he loved painting the area and his paintings are testimonies of life in working-class neighborhoods during the first half of the century.

Raymond Besse also created numerous works on the themes of Normandy and the Loire Valley. It was in Loir-et-Cher that he spent his last years and died in 1969.
