Émile-Louis Foubert was a French history and nude painter, born on September 11, 1848, in the former 8th arrondissement of Paris. He studied in the Parisian studios of Léon Bonnat, Charles Busson, and Henri-Léopold Lévy, where he honed his craft.

Throughout his career, Foubert created paintings on mythological, allegorical, and religious subjects, as well as portraits and landscapes. From 1875, he exhibited his works in the salons of the Société des Artistes Français, of which he became a member in 1884.

Around 1900, Foubert changed his style and began painting fantastical landscapes with nymphs and sylphs. His paintings were often characterized by vibrant colors and undulating forms, creating an effect of movement and fluidity.

Foubert was recognized for his talent throughout his life, receiving gold and silver medals for his exhibited works. He died on February 12, 1911, at the age of 62, in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.
