François Grenier de Saint-Martin, is a French painter, student of Jacques Louis David but also of Pierre Narcisse Guerin. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1810 when he presented his version of Atala and continued until his death in 1860.
He began his career with Napoleonic scenes but after the Restoration he turned to genre and peasant scenes. Many lithographs made him popular during the 19th century. Today, François Grenier's oils are very rare, unlike his lithographs which appear frequently.
